Waiting for you.

From buds to leaves.
They bend to the will of the wind.
Effortlessly.
Without question.

Here’s to new beginnings.
A promotion. A new job. A new baby.
A new perspective. A new laptop. A new cookie.
A new person. A new day.

Here’s to beginnings.
Aren’t they always new?
No beginning repeats itself.
It’s rare for it to.
Not even a race that one person is bound to win,
no matter how many times they restart it.

Here’s to beginnings.
They brings something new each time.
Lucky for you, I wish you well on your new journey. Whether it’s to the office, or it’s to the gym.
Here here!
Bring that positive attitude with you and you are bound to win.
Make sure you get some good sleep.
And you stretch your feet a little bit.
You’ve got this!
It’s all you’ve been working towards,
working for,
looking forward to.

Here’s to new beginnings.
They are terrifying.
Some times, most times, they prefer if we left something behind.
I hoped I wasn’t that something that was being left behind.
This something being left behind no longer serves the beginning.
To have the beginning, something has to end.
Even for the thing that is ending, a new beginning has began for it.

Here’s to new beginnings.
The slight terror we feel in our little finger.
The smile in the new space, the politeness we can’t help but muster up.
The attention we pay, the thoughts we push away.
The plans we make, once the space opens up to us.

Here’s to beginnings.
Promise of something different.
An experience we never have had before.
A beginning that is coloured with cool mornings and warm evenings.
The laughter of familiarity that we slowly become a part of.
The awkwardness of contributing to the new space, while we still have a lot to learn.

Here’s to beginnings.
Here’s to a beginning I wish never came.
One that sat quietly in the corner waiting for me to recognise it’s presence.
The more I hold onto the past, the more the beginning grows.
And this time, it’s growing to big to ignore.
To hold onto the past, is to sit in the memory of a good time.
To hold on to the past is to ignore the pressure of the present, the beginning.

Here’s to beginnings,
old ones, familiar ones, slightly painful ones.
Here’s to new beginnings,
exciting ones, demanding ones, unexpected ones.

Here’s to beginning
to the leaves that have fallen.
to the buds that awaken.
to the wind, that is ever present.
Here’s to a beginning.

To someone who showed me that I, too, am an individual.
